ETHERIUS just revealed a brand new drum playthrough video for the massive track “The Inevitable End”, featuring stunning aerial views in the natural environment of High Tor State Park, NY. The video was filmed/directed/edited by Michael J Adams of Blackline Studios. ETHERIUS drummer/producer Zaki Ali says, “With “The Inevitable End” being the fastest song on this record, there was a pretty specific approach to the double bass in regards to how some of the parts lie. It’s mostly played as double strokes throughout the song because of the tempo. There’s a section with nine stroke rolls on the kick, which I played as rrllrrllr for each group of nine. Just like with hands, it really comes down to assigning specific combinations of patterns according to the amount of rest space in between the hits. That allows playing that perfectly in time to be physically possible. So, while there’s little room to stray from the compositions within this music, there’s also the drum solo section in the middle of the song which is ultimately an improvised studio take using a combination of singles, paradiddles, and paradiddlediddles. Before tracking the record, I had somewhat of a sense of the direction I was going for, but after recording it, I sat down and just learned what I did on the record hit for hit.”

While online, check out part one of the band’s three-part behind the scenes video series detailing the making of Thread of Life. Exclusively hosted by Gear Gods, each part will highlight drums, bass and guitars individually. Part one, featuring drums, showcases recording and interview clips with drummer/producer Zaki Ali. ETHERIUS was formed by guitarist Jay Tarantino in 2017. After gaining experience as a touring rhythm guitarist for guitar virtuoso Angel Vivaldi, Tarantino decided to branch out on his own with the goal of making music unlike the djent/electronic stylings of the current instrumental guitar scene. The result is ETHERIUS – a fresh new take on progressive metal/neoclassical shred incorporating classic thrash elements. In addition to Jay Tarantino and Zaki Ali, ETHERIUS features bassist Chris Targia and second guitarist John Kiernan.

The concept of Thread of Life and the album’s artwork were inspired by ancient Greek mythology, specifically TheMoirai (moy-ray), or “three fates”. Thread of Life was produced and engineered by Jay Tarantino and Zaki Ali with Angel Vivaldi acting as co-producer, was recorded at Backroom Studios in Rockaway, New Jersey (owned by Dillinger Escape Planguitarist Kevin Antreassin), and was mixed/mastered by Mutiny Within vocalist Chris Clancy at Audioworks Productions. Additional tracking was completed with Angel Vivaldi at his home studio.

With one listen to Thread of Life it’s clear that combined, the four extremely talented musicians of ETHERIUS produce a clean, awe-inspiring sound merging powerful progressive elements that will appeal to not only the most discerning and critical metal fans, but to the heavy music-loving masses as well.

Members of ETHERIUS are currently endorsed by Kiesel Guitars, Ernie Ball Music Man, and Reunion Blues.
